The Photos of Ara Guler

Ara Guler, the Turkish photojournalist who photographed the streets of Istanbul died in October 2018. I had never seen his work previously but I came across this obituary by Orhan Pamuk, the 2006 Nobel Prize winner in Literature and one of Turkey’s most prominent novelists, in the New York Times. It is definitely worth a read and gives you and insight into the world of both of these artists.

Welcome

This is my learning log for OCA Photography 1: Context and Narrative. I have completed Expressing Your Vision and look forward to continuing the course.

My main aims are:-

  • To continue to develop my photographic skills
  • To develop a more academic approach to my studies without compromising the practical part of the degree
  • To develop my short videos using Premiere Pro as a way to present my photographs

and of course to continue to enjoy it.
